▸ Stjärnfall efter stjärnfall i US Open.

Australiensaren Alexei Popyrin, rankad 28:a i världen, slog ut serben med 3–1 i set.

James Gray (@JamesGraySport) asks George Bellshaw (@BellshawGeorge) and Calvin Betton (@CalvBetton) YOUR questions, including: What aspects of the respective games of Roger, Rafa and Novak do you see in Carlos Alcaraz and what specific improvements should he make since apparently currently he has reached only 60 per of his potential according to Juan Carlos Ferrero? (From Elena Tsourdi) What's happened to Casper Ruud? (From LynneyPin) With all the money in tennis, can they not afford to pay for world feed TV commentators to be on site at tournaments rather than sitting thousands of miles away? (From WazzaMelbourne) To ask the pod a question, head over to @UnfilterTennis on Twitter or email us at tennisunfiltered@gmail.com. Josh Levin is joined by Joel Anderson and Ben Mathis-Lilley to talk about Northwestern firing football coach Pat Fitzgerald in the midst of a hazing scandal. Episode 15 - Alcaraz Debuts at the ATP Finals, WTA Player Awards

Carlos Alcaraz appeared at the ATP Finals for the very first time and after struggling with the fast indoor conditions against Alexander Zverev, actually turned it into a decent campaign (but couldn't beat the unstoppable Novak Djokovic). Should Iga Świątek claim Player of the Year and should Tomasz Wiktorowski claim Coach of the Year awards?

Ep. 83 - The Rise of Carlos Alcaraz

In this episode, Brian and Josh discuss the mental attributes of Carlos Alcaraz that have led to his rise in the rankings. The co-hosts consider the confidence, humility, and work ethic that he has shown thus far in his career, and how rare it is to see such traits from someone his age (19 years old). Furthermore, they review how all tennis players can learn from Alcaraz’s motivational and instructional self-talk (featured in the first quote below) and the positive impact that activating the coaching voice by using the player’s own name has on performance. Below are quotes that were mentioned during the episode.     “I lost the second set, and then after, I went to the bathroom. It helped me,” Alcaraz recalled. “I washed my face. ‘Okay, Charlie, if you're not going to pull out, think about playing. Don't think on your ankle. Don't think on nothing else. Fight till the very last ball, because you know that you are capable of doing it.’”   "I have five more to go to be the best in the world."   “I am not afraid to say I want to win a Grand Slam, I know it is going to be really hard, but I am not afraid to say it.”     To learn more about Josh and Brian's backgrounds and sport psychology businesses, go to TiebreakerPsych.com and PerformanceXtra.com.
