"Det här är en nödsituation för Ryssland"
På flygplatsen möttes han av Nordkoreas ledare Kim Jong-Un. Malcolm Dixelius menar att man vill visa att Ryssland är en internationell spelare. – Putin känner sig ju isolerad och man måste visa att han inte är det, därför åker han till Nordkorea och sedan vidare till Vietnam. Då var han relativt ny på presidentposten och Nordkorea styrdes av den tidigare ledaren Kim Jong-Il. Varför har det gått så lång tid mellan besöken? – Det här är en nödsituation för Ryssland. Man söker de partner som man behöver. Nordkorea har varit ganska ointressant för Ryssland, som var väldigt framgångsrikt framför allt under Putins första tio år. Ekonomiskt klarade man sig väldigt bra med höga oljepriser på det internationella området. Och Rysslands stora handelspartner var ju då EU. I dag är Ryssland satt under sanktioner och har minimal handel med EU. Så det är en nödsituation för Ryssland. ”Mer spänning än jag kan komma ihåg” Från ryskt håll har man sagt att det under mötet länderna emellan kommer att skrivas under "viktiga dokument". – Men de är väldigt försiktiga med att tala om vad de innehåller, för att de här dokumenten utgör ju de facto ett brott mot de sanktioner som FN har infört och som Ryssland har varit med och beslutat på grund av Nordkoreas kärnvapenprogram, säger Malcolm Dixelius. Kan det här mötet öka spänningarna i världen? – Det är svårt att säga att spänningarna kan ökas just nu, det är ju mer spänning än jag kan komma ihåg under någon tidpunkt efter det kalla kriget. Då hade vi riktigt farlig internationell spänning. Vi är på väg mot det nu och det här eldar på. Det gör det absolut.
