Metallica ger en miljon till Stadsmissionen

I samband med heavy metal-bandet Metallicas två konserter i Göteborg i helgen donerar bandet nära en miljon kronor till Göteborgs stadsmission. Donationen sker genom Metallicas välgörenhetsorganisation All within my hands (AWMH) i ett samarbete med konsertarrangören Live Nation.

Ghost spelar in film: "Konsert – och något annat"

The week of December 20, 2023 on The Metallica Report… We’re going to sit back, relax, and enjoy some of the highlights of the first 20 episodes of The Metallica Report. Remember Lars and that iPod? (think Blue Oyster Cult!) What about Kirk catching waves or James’ love of a good music festival? And who could forget Robert’s night on stage in Dallas? First, Steffan gives us his review of a night out in the East Bay watching two bands featuring HQ staffers: Dana Lindstrom’s Milk For The Angry and previous pod interviewee Avi Vinocur’s Badnight, Texas (the hard core version of Goodnight, Texas).  Next we’ll revisit interviews from the first 20 episodes as all four guys gave us some great stories about their hobbies, music, being on stage (beachball chaos! guitar solos!) and creating new material for every show. We close out with Robert chiming in to share his Christmas plans with us. Happy Holidays to all . . . we’ll be back next week to celebrate the New Year! Episode 19: Lars’ Current Music Obsessions; Robert’s Favorite Funk Grooves; Dr. Corey Spurlin, Auburn University Marching Band Director

The week of December 6, 2023 on The Metallica Report… Steffan and Renée do a deep dive into both the physical and mental iPods of Lars and Rob, as Lars shares more of his musical obsessions and Rob throws down his five favorite funk cuts. They also speak with Auburn University’s Professor of Music and Marching Band Director, Dr. Corey Spurlin. The musical themed show kicks off with Lars and his deep dive into the heavier side of Lynyrd Skynyrd as he outlines his five favorite lesser known tracks from the Florida band. His other current favorite musical obsession? Warrior Soul, a band he describes as “in that zone zone between hard rock, heavy metal, but a lot of punk attitude and a lot of kind-of not giving a shit.” To no one’s surprise, Robert is our resident funk-master and he gives us his five favorite funk grooves, including divulging that the Isley Brothers were his very first concert; it was the moment he knew he wanted to be a musician. Finally we hear from Dr. Corey Spurlin at Auburn University, whose marching band has wowed us all with their half-time show entry to the For Whom The Band Tolls Marching Band competition. Corey tells us how the band chose the songs they performed and that Metallica’s performance with the San Francisco Symphony on S&M2 provided inspiration. The week of November 29, 2023 on The Metallica Report… Coming off the holiday, Steffan and Renee dip into their M72 interview archives to give you a more in-depth look at the tour. First, James thinks back to the first time he saw the massive circular stage mapped out with cones in the middle of an empty MetLife Stadium. He also touches on the logistics of a simple guitar swap and the importance of creating a “presence” on stage for both the band and the fans. Then, our hosts are joined by a couple of M72 special guests, Zoltan Bathory and Chris Kael of Five Finger Death Punch. Zoltan explains that, despite misconceptions behind the band’s accelerated rise to success, they come from extremely humble beginnings and a militant devotion to hard work. The week of Week of November 1, 2023 on The Metallica Report… Hot on the heels of last week’s Halloween celebration with a special Hammett-horror-episode, listeners report what their favorite fright-night feature film is.  We have a couple of nuggets from the recently published in-depth and wide-ranging conversation between Steffan and Lars for the band’s online magazine, So What! As the oft-debated St. Anger celebrates its 20th anniversary, Steff acknowledges that, much like that album, 72 Seasons has entered the world following a comparable stretch of unease and uncertainty. With the benefit of hindsight, Lars compares this era’s ability to accept and navigate obstacles with Metallica’s past turmoil. And with stops in St. Louis and Detroit right around the corner, Steffan and Renée catch up with a few stalwarts of the fan club. Tara Paddock and Kurt Schwarz, local chapter heads of Missouri’s Burnt Ends of Sanity and The Struggle Within Michigan, respectively, are joined by family-favorite Metallica Mom Sarah Sobeck, who has a minivan of international fans joining her and her husband, Pete, on their Metalli-travels.
