Modo bröt förlustsviten: "Härliga poäng"

Efter fem raka förluster fick Modo till slut jubla när man besegrade Skellefteå med 3–2 efter straffläggning. Sampo Ranta och Johan Södergran satte sina straffar och därmed var saken klar. – Helt klart jäkligt härliga två poäng, säger Modos lagkapten David Rundblad.

SHL-nykomlingen Modo har gjort klart med 29-årige forwarden Danny O’Regan, som senast spelat med Grand Rapis Griffins i AHL. Sportchefen Henrik Gradin är nöjd och säger att amerikanen är siste man in i laget på ett tag. – Han är verkligen en av de tre vi tittat på och velat ha, säger han. O’Regan, som spelat fyra säsonger i NHL, väntas bilda förstakedjan tillsammans med Mikael Ruohomaa och Sampo Ranta, skriver Sportbladet. Enligt Gradin kan 29-åringen vara spelklar när Modo möter Malmö borta nästa lördag.

Sampo Ranta, the Colorado Avalanche 3rd Round pick out of the University of Minnesota, signed a two year contract with MoDo of the Swedish Hockey League, leaving the Avalanche with one less prospect in their already think prospect pool. While Ranta struggled to get his pro career, and even his AHL career, off the ground, this came as a surprise to many as he could have been a player given an opportunity when training camp came around next season. It does not mean his career with the Avalanche is officially over, as they still hold his rights and can welcome him back after his contract with MoDo is over, but it does cause us to ask if it might be.
