Israeliskt stridsflyg har attackerat mål i en stadsdel i södra Beirut. Flygräderna genomfördes strax efter det att israelisk militär uppmanat boende i områden att lämna sina hem i den libanesiska huvudstaden.

Oron kring lastfartyget MV Ruby uppstod efter att skrovet skadats i samband med lastning i en hamn på ryska Kolahalvön. Orsaken till oron är att fartyget är lastat med 20 000 ton ammoniumnitrat – en farlig kemikalie som bland annat låg bakom den omtalade megaexplosionen i Beiruts hamn i Libanon 2020. Ombord på MV Ruby finns drygt sju gånger mer ammoniumnitrat än vad som fanns i hamnen i Beirut innan esplosionen. Efter att ha skapat oro i flera länder och nekats tillträde till flera hamnar har MV Ruby nu lagt till i en hamn nära staden Great Yarmouth i grevskapet Norfolk i östra England – bara några hundra meter från ett bostadsområde, en förskola och en gymnasieskola, skriver Daily Mail. ”Önskar att det inte var här” Under tiden som MV Ruby ligger förtöjd i brittisk hamn ska fartyget tömmas på sin last så att det kan repareras. Besättningen ombord fartyget har försäkrat om att man lagt till under högsta möjliga säkerhet. Trots det har flera personer i området uttryckt sin oro sedan ”skräckfartyget” kom till staden. – Det är inte bra att dumpa allt det skräpet i Great Yarmouth. Jag önskar att det inte var här, säger Shari Wharton. ”Borde inte utsättas för det här” Hon minns hur det kändes i februari 2023 när en odentonerad tysk bomb från andra världskriget hittades vid en byggarbetsplats. Bomben detonerade när den skulle desarmeras och skapade en kraftig smäll. – Mitt hus skadade när bomben smällde. Nu måste vi stå ut med det här skeppet som ingen annan vill ha. 28-åriga Mia Atkinson och hennes barn brukar besöka en strand som ligger intill hamnen. – Jag förstår att det här är ett industriområde och att vissa områden använder kemikalier, men den här mängden är löjlig. Det är massor av semestrande människor här på stranden när det är fint väder och de borde inte utsättas för det här.
