Mathieu van der Poel on winning the Worlds, Roubaix and Milan San Remo in an incredible 2023

Well for our final regular GTCC episode of 2023, we thought it was time to bring out the big guns - and cycling guns don't come much bigger than MVDP himself, Mathieu van der Poel. The newly-crowned world champion joined G and Tom to talk about that remarkable ride in Glasgow, his two Monument wins at Milan San Remo and Paris-Roubaix - plus so, so much more. Inter Milan: Winning titles, losing money

It’s been a pretty good start to the season for Inter Milan. Ticking along nicely in the Champions League and top of Serie A as they chase silverware for a fourth consecutive season…  Behind the scenes however, the picture isn’t quite as rosy. Despite increased revenues, profits are low and debts are sky-high. Add to that an outdated stadium, an ageing squad and some high-profile departures. So, is it enough for them to just be successful on the pitch and if a takeover is the solution, are they, or any Italian club, attractive enough to buy?  Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic’s Senior football news reporter Matt Slater & our Italian football writer James Horncastle. Going South: Spurs slog makes for imperfect Milan prep

Taylor Payne and Chris Waugh are safe in the North East for our weekend review, with George Caulkin making the unexpected decision to broadcast from a building site in central London. We have another dispiriting display to look back at, with Eddie Howe's knackered Mags downed 4-1 by a Spurs side whose "injury crisis" pales by comparison. Better news from Gateshead, where Becky Langley's women made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup and a potential meeting with the big hitters of the WSL. Next up, a Champions League Group F finale with AC Milan coming to St James's Park on Wednesday. The atmosphere should be electric, but can that re-energise the players or will Leao and co spoil the party? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hit and shit FORZA MILAN

Israel-Hamas war: International Law and the Use of Force with Professor Marko Milanovic

Israel’s military response to the 7 October 2023 attack by Hamas has been subject to much discussion. In a two-part series, we consider specific questions related to the use of force, jus ad bellum, and the laws governing the conduct of hostilities, means, and methods of warfare, referred to as jus in bello. In this episode, Dr Maria Varaki, Lecturer in International Law at King’s College London, speaks to Marko Milanovic, Professor of Public international Law at the University of Reading and prolific author in Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian and Criminal Law. They discuss Professor Milanovic’s blog post ‘Does Israel Have the Right to Defend Itself?’ in EJIL Talk, exploring his legal analysis of complex questions related to the right of self-defence under article 51 of the UN Charter and the concept of proportionality. -- In response to the ongoing situation and humanitarian crisis, all those at King’s College London affected by the events in Israel and Gaza can access support here: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/students/support-for-students-and-staff-affected-by-the-israel-and-gaza-conflict
