Kidnappningsdramat fortgår: Kan ha smugglats bort – till Venezuela

Det var natten mot söndagen som fotbollsspelaren Luis Diaz föräldrar färdades i en bil i den colombianska staden Barrancas, när beväpnade personer på motorcykel gensköt dem. Männen tog sig in i bilen och kidnappade Luis Manuel Díaz och Cilenis Marulanda, genom att tvinga in dem i en skåpbil. Den colombianska åklagarmyndigheten publicerade kort därefter ett uttalande på plattformen X: ”Från ögonblicket åklagarmyndigheten fick höra om kidnappning av den colombianska spelaren Luis Diaz föräldrar har ett specialteam från myndigheten, militären och polis satts in för att brådskande hitta var personerna befinner sig, klargöra fakta och hitta de som är ansvariga”. Mamma fritagen Natten till måndagen, svensk tid, meddelade Colombias president Gustavo Petro att Diaz mamma hade fritagits av polis men fem dagar senare är pappan fortfarande försvunnen. Colombiansk polis har sedan dess identifierat två misstänkta gärningspersoner men befarar att pappan kommer, eller redan har, smugglats in i grannlandet Venezuela, rapporterar The Guardian. Venezuela beskrivs som en grogrund för väpnade grupper som smugglar varor och kokain. Colombiansk underrättelsetjänst arbetar med Interpols kontor i Venezuelas huvudstad Caracas, men har inte fått någon bekräftelse på att Díaz Sr har lämnat landet, skriver The Guardian. Hyllades i matchen Diaz värvades till Liverpool från Porto i januari 2022 för drygt 450 miljoner kronor och ses som en nyckelspelare i den brittiska storklubben. Yttern har inte spelat fotboll sedan föräldrarna kidnappades. När Diogo Jota gjorde mål i mötet mot Nottingham Forest drog han upp Diaz matchtröja som en hyllning till sin lagkamrat. – Det är en oroande situation för oss alla och det var en ganska tuff natt. Något jag aldrig har varit med om tidigare, säger Liverpools tränare Jürgen Klopp inför matchen.
