Here’s our instant match reaction from Kenilworth Road with Kev and James a few minutes after the final whistle of a frustrating 3-2 defeat to Chelsea as, with New Year celebrations in full flow, we won't be able to bring you a full studio reaction podcast as normal.   But you'll have seen part of this on our social media channels yesterday (and if not that's a good reason to give us a follow), but we promised you some exclusive bonus player interview reaction content... so here it is. Hear from:    Rob Edwards Ross Barkley Tahith Chong Carlton Morris Andros Townsend (including his update on contract negotiations)   Let us know in the comments if you like this type of content and we'll see if we can do more of it in 2024.   You can also read on The Lutonian, James’ take on the match including reaction from the boss: https://thelutonian.com/luton-2-chelsea-3-a-case-of-what.../

S7 E44: Luton v Chelsea preview: Is this the least daunting match of the month?

For the second time in 21 months, big spending Chelsea are the visitors to Kenilworth Road, only this time the two sides meet as divisional rivals rather than in an FA Cup match. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan Dan Barratt-Davis to preview a match which could very well give an obvious sign of the improvement Rob Edwards’ side have made since losing 3-0 to the Blues in their second match in the Premier League. As always in a preview podcast the boys pick out three main threats in the visitors side, one of whom has already ripped the Town apart this season, before looking at how the Hatters boss could set his own side up and where they can get at Chelsea. The discussion then turns to who might be best served to start for the home side in what should be a great afternoon as the Town go in search of a third straight Premier League win, 32 years after they last did it in the top flight. Back in 1991 that was achieved at home to the Londoners. Can Town do it again?  The podcast concludes with our score predictions and then as this is the last full studio podcast of 2023 the boys pick out their favourite moments from what has been a truly memorable calendar year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. Super Sunday | Spurs demolish Newcastle | Richarlison scores twice | Man City fight back against Luton

Kelly Cates is joined by Jamie Redknapp and Michael Dawson to look back on Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Newcastle. We hear from Spurs’ man of the match Son Heung-min, as well as Newcastle’s Callum Wilson. Plus, we discuss Manchester City’s 2-1 win at Luton as the Champions avoided a shock, and we speak to Pep Guardiola and Rob Edwards.

S7 E46: Luton v Bolton: Magic of the cup or ’meh!’? | Andros Townsend - new deal reaction

The Town park the Premier League action for the magic of the FA Cup as Bolton Wanderers are the visitors to Kenilworth Road for a third round tie on Sunday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead of the Hatters’ opening match in the competition with a reflection on the importance of the cup, both to the Town and to the two chaps. But first of all, the news broke hours before recording that Andros Townsend had signed a contract extension to stay a Hatter for the foreseeable future, so we discuss his move and his impact since joining the club.  The attention then turns to the visit of Bolton, where two former Luton players were expected to be involved, however that is already down to just one with the news that Carlos Mendes-Gomes is already away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Two other potential dangers are highlighted. The boys then put themselves into the shoes of Rob Edwards to try and come up with the potential starting XI for the game. Will there be wholesale changes or just tinkering to the team? As ever the podcast ends with the score predictions and news of a couple of gifts given to James with big Luton connections attached to them! All this and much more on the longest running Luton Town podcast! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ As mentioned in the podcast, The Lars Elstrup biography by Carsten Fog Hansen is now available via Pitch Publishing at https://www.pitchpublishing.co.uk/shop/unhappy-hero Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/ Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. S7 E40: Luton v Newcastle preview - Cheers for Tom Lockyer, jeers fears for sportswashing

Newcastle United head to Kenilworth Road for the first time in 29 years on Saturday afternoon and Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview what is set to be an emotional day. The boys begin the podcast by sending their best wishes to Tom Lockyer and Glen Rea before congratulating the Luton Ladies side on their recent FA Cup win to set up a high profile clash against WSL side Brighton in the next round. A look back at the last time the Magpies played at Kenilworth Road follows from there. When the attention turns to Saturday, James refuses to separate football from the sportswashing efforts of Newcastle's owners. But we still manage to pick out three dangers in the opposing side that are beset by injuries. The focus then goes onto the Town, who will obviously be forced into one change to their starting XI. Replacements for Lockyer are discussed as well as any other switches Rob Edwards could make to his team. The boys then look at who in the opposition can be targeted and the potential key performers over the course of the afternoon before finishing with their score predictions. All this and a lot more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

S7 E42: Sheffield United v Luton preview: Triple threat time for the biggest game of the season?

Once the presents have been opened, the has been turkey eaten and the Christmas sherry quaffed, attention will turn to the Boxing Day trip to Bramall Lane as Sheffield United host Luton for the second time in nine months. Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the Yorkshire clash with the podcast beginning by looking back at the last time these two sides met at this famous venue. The boys pick out three threats in the opposition, each of whom we came up against last season, before reflecting on the change of manager in this part of the world. As always, the focus then comes back to the Hatters and any potential team changes that Rob Edwards might make, with the prospect of that high calibre midfield trio we have spoken so much about in previous podcasts potentially being on the pitch at the same time for the first time. The lads look at where in this Sheffield United line up Luton can get some joy in attack before they conclude with their score predictions for the game. All this and plenty more on the only podcast that has gone from League 2 to the Premier League! *Please note that due to the Christmas schedule this podcast was recorded before the 1-0 win over Newcastle United. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Find us at: https://www.lutontownsupporterstrust.com Find all the latest news and features about Luton Town at The Lutonian: https://thelutonian.com/  Thanks to the Hightown Club in Luton for hosting our video podcasts. S10E10 | The Murder of Avril Dunn (Luton, Bedfordshire, 1985)

In this episode, I tell the story of Avril Dunn, a 26-year-old woman murdered in Luton, Bedfordshire, on September 14, 1985. Avril went to The Heron, a local pub, that Saturday evening and was seen playing darts with some of the other regulars. Leaving at around 10.30 pm, Avril is thought to have been seen in the company of a tall, fair-haired man who drove away from the pub in a light-coloured Opel Manta. Her body was found at 7:30 am the following day. Still, her killer wouldn't be caught until thirteen years later when advances in DNA technology allowed scientists to match samples recovered from Avril's clothes to one of their key suspects at the time of her murder. Duncan Jackson, a father of four, was found guilty of Avril's murder in January 2000 and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years. Chillingly, Duncan took part in reenacting Avril's case in the March 1986 episode of Crimewatch UK. **The following is NOT a sponsored message** If you are suffering from an eating disorder or are concerned that someone you know is, please consider contacting Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity: Beat (ENG): 0808 801 0677 Beat (SCO): 0808 801 0432 Beat (WAL): 0808 801 0433 Beat (NI): 0808 801 0434 For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣ britishmurders.com⁣ Intro music:⁣ David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣ linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣ References:⁣ britishmurders.com/avrildunn Learn more about your ad choices.
